Chilkat River -- Southeast Alaska. Acrylic on canvas, 22 in. x 32 in., $900. The hiss of the current shaving the river's banks and trumpeter swans edging north lulled me to sleep.
Winter Beach -- Auke Bay. Acrylic on paper, 15 in. x 22 in. or 22 in. x 30 in. framed, $750. I painted on the beach at Auke Bay while Cathy and Angie made their waterfowl observa· tions.
Cutthroat pool -- Fish Creek, Juneau, Alaska. Acrylic on canvas, 22 in. x 32 in. $900. Two channels of Fish Creek converged and carved a pool where resting salmon paused.
Hush -- Fish Creek, Juneau, Alaska. Acrylic on canvas, 22 in. x 32 in., $900. Waded Fish Creek to a small pool I had noticed earlier. Smell of decomposing salmon and splashing of the living, a constant presence.
Pause -- Fish Creek, Juneau, Alaska. Acrylic on canvas, 22 in. x 32 in., $900. Purchase via ArtiqueLtd.com. The soothing murmurs of the stream blurs the day's particulars into an unfocused peaceful memory.
Islands -- Montana Creek, Juneau, Alaska. Acrylic on canvas, 22 in. x 32 in., $900. Returned to Montana Creek to work more on the painting of the 19th. Bear tracks followed the creek.
Otter Run -- Montana Creek, Juneau, Alaska. Acrylic on canvas, 22 in. x 32 in., $900. An otter swam down stream just under the surface of the water.
Avalanche
Casualties -- Salmon Creek.
Acrylic on canvas, 22 in. x 32 in., $900. In
day dream stride I was on top of a porcupine before I noticed it.
It continued to nibble new greens, probably day dreaming as well.
May 15, 2002.
Fallen -- Peterson Creek. Acrylic on canvas, 22 in. x 32 in., $900. Skunk cabbage was spare, small, and clipped straight by deer. The meadow was surround· ed by varied thrush, robins, and ruby-crowned kinglets' territorial songs back by the hammering of a downy woodpecker. May 1, 2002.
Skunk Cabbage -- Peterson Creek. Acrylic on paper, 30 in. x 22 in., or 38 in. x 30 in. framed, $900. I followed Peterson Creek to a meadow spotted with new skunk cabbage growth. Varied thrush and robins filled the forest with sound. I slipped on a partic· ularly muddy section of trail and was wet from hip to toe. May 7, 2002.
Morning -- Sheep Creek, Juneau, Alaska. Acrylic on canvas, 22 in. x 32 in., $900. Hiked into Sheep Crek Valley. Negotiated a steep shifting bank to spot with little foot room. Painted stream bordered by cottonwood, alder, and spruce.
Stephen's Passage. Acrylic on canvas, 13 in. x 17 in., $600. Watched a humpback whale sound near Skull Island. While I was painting Gerry and Jose strolled over with a morning cup of tea for me. June 4, 2003.
