Backlit--Fish Creek. Acrylic on canvas, $900. Found a calm sheltered place to palint. Easel only blew down three times.
Beaver Pond--Mendenhall Glacier. Acrylic on canvas, $300. Wind cold coming over the lake off the glacier. Makes the place seem wild.
Cowee Meadows--Cowee Creek. Acrylic on canvas, $900. Wonderful day, unexpected. Some salmon-enhanced bear sign on the trail. Disturbed three porcupine and a marmot. Lincoln sparrows own the meadow.
Dry Pool--Jumbo Meadows. Acrylic on canvas, $900. Everything covered in yellow pollen. Searched meadows for lily pools. All pools dry.
Gold Creek--Juneau, Alaska. Acrylic on canvas, $250. Something heavy moving in the woods behind me. Hope it is a porcupine. Cottonwood seeds fill the air.
Jack Pine--Fish Creek Valley. Acrylic on canvas, NFS. A doe hesitated on the steep shoulder, turned, and was instantly absorbed by the thick summer foliage.
Jack Pine Reflection--Fish Creek Valley. Acrylic on canvas, $900. The sun was so bright it was hard to work. Took a nap.
Nurse Log--Montana Creek. Acrylic on canvas, $900. Followed the stream through thick alder patches and stands of mature spruce. The only sounds occasional splashes of spawning chum salmon or the scolding stellers jays.
Peterson Lake #1--Juneau, Alaska. Acrylic on canvas, $900. Hot sunny day. Rings from feeding trout spot the lake surface. Mallard hen and five chicks negotiate the lily pads.
Salt Chuck--Peterson Creek. Acrylic on canvas, $900. Disturbed three herons stalking the shallows. Scattered pairs of merganser dot the shore rocks.
Sawmill Creek--Sitka, Alaska. Acrylic on canvas, $900. Susi, Debbie read and talked, Sonny played in the water and rolled in dead things. I squinted into brilliant sun for several hours.
Spring--Fish Creek. Acrylic on canvas, $250. Light failed, wind rose, temperature dropped. Shouldn't have cast that last dozen times.
Stormy Meadow--Fish Creek Valley. Acrylic on canvas, $900. Set up for rain. Surrounded by robin and hermit thrush song. Pre-rain breeze was invigorating.
Stream--Fish Creek Valley. Acrylic on canvas, $1000. Biting bugs finally out. Dipper moving up and down the stream.
