Welcome to
the website of Alaska artist, book illustrator, and educator,
Jim Fowler. You can see the book cover
illustrations or view some of his acrylic
landscape paintings, with prices includes. Students and
teachers may use these illustrations in their eductional work,
with attribution, as noted in the copyright statement. Feel
free to contact
Jim to arrange school visits or inquire about purchasing
original book artwork.
The
term 'plein air' means the paintings are executed outdoors to
capture the luminous effects of natural daylight and
atmosphere. Jim loves painting outside and there are examples
of his work in Alaska, the Yukon, and, in fact, anywhere Jim
travels. Please visit Jim's Plein
Air Landscape Paintings to view some recent work.
In addition to his landscape paintings, Jim illustrates
children's books. Jim has illustrated a dozen nationally
published children's books since 1985. He received the
Christopher Award in 1995 for his original illustrations in
I'll See You When the Moon is Full, by Susi Gregg
Fowler (Greenwillow Books 1994). The latest book is
First Salmon, by Roxane Beauclair Salonen (Boyds
Mills Press 2005). Some original book artwork is available for
purchase. Please don't hesitate to inquire. Please visit
Children's
Book Illustrations by Jim Fowler to see the book covers
and descriptions. We encourage you to buy the books from your
local, independent bookstores. Some of the books are now out
of print, but the artist has copies of some books for sale or
you may be able to locate second-hand copies. If you need
assistance, feel free to contact the artist.
